House of Joy in San Antonio

Great restaurant. We enjoyed the food, as always. This restaurant has done a great job of providing top quality food and service during the COVID-19 days. We'll remember when things return to normal.

Any dish you get is fantastic I had the orange chicken sesame seed chicken and the Mongolian beef white steamed rice delicious

I always get the chicken with snow peas. Always satisfied,when you order to-go they are fairly quick and getting it out with no long lines to wait in, fried rice is very good, as well as the steamed rice.

I just moved to this side of town not long ago and boy let me say good Chinese food is so hard to come by around here... I thought this place has 4 stars because it was good but oh my it definitely is not that great at all. The food does not have any flavor and is over priced for the taste. The egg rolls are horrible and the service is slow. I do not like to do reviews but I have tried 3 different times and 3 different meals and still nothing is different.

Food is always great. The restaurant is clean and the service is always top notch. For the price, the best value put there.

i love chinese food but one or two time i went the the last plate i order a pepper steak the beef taste so funny smell and beef garlic sauce it doesnt taste or smell like garlic in it

Haven't been in over 10 years because I don't go to the area very often. But when you walk in, you're seated quickly. The restaurant is just as clean now as it was the day it opened. The food, service, and quality is still top notch. If I had to rate it from 1-10, The House of Joy would definitely get a 15.

Food was bland, the rice wasn't fried,it was more like boiled, the sweet sour chicken was tough, not fresh.

Rude, dismissive staff. Neglects to bring soup that comes with the meal and didn't refill drinks. Food is excellent.

I ordered the mu shu pork and yes it took a little while to prepare, but it was a complicated menu item. This place has excellent food and the waitress gave me excellent service.

LOVE this place! Wonderful staff and food. Their cooking is so good my 6 year old finally ate shrimp! (Big deal for my family lol)

The lunch menu has plenty of choices. I enjoyed the alone time and watching the fish in their huge aquarium. Very clean and fast. The service is great.

My first impression of the House of Joy was very good. The restuarant is very clean, well decorated and convenient. The prices are reasonable for food and amount they offer. The lunch specials were great with good prices. From sesame chicken to beef lo meun they got it all. You should come by with friends and family and you won't be disappointed. Good place for lunch and dinner. Highly Recommended!!! 👍

My whole family comes here and are good friends with the owner and staff , always good food from good people !

The food was okay we had more veggies than chicken and our waitress was rude she wouldn’t reply to us when we said thank you and before we left she picked up the receipt to check her tip and said that wasn’t enough!! she said it’s 15% and we left 2 dollars less than 15%. Definitely not coming back

I've been coming here well over 10 years now. Their sesame chicken and fried rice is amazing. And the customer service is the best. Dining in or just for pick up, b you'll always be taken care of. I always recommend this gem to everyone.

They have the best general tso's chicken here. I love this sauce and they use dark meat. So delicious and very friendly service and staff. The egg drop soup is also very very good

I was very busy on the day that I had to call in order for pick up and I ended up showing up about two and a half hours after I ordered it and they were so nice enough to eat make sure the food was still hot and remade it you don't see places do that no more for anybody that was awesome

It was great food even though we went about an 1 1/2 before closing the food was fresh and the service was good...

On June 27th me and my boss went to go have lunch here at this restaurant the waitress was very nice and very pleasant we will be returning to this place soon as regulars due to the fact that the prices are very cheap and they served well was a great experience considering it was our first time there try it out

I was very disappointed of this place. I been wanted to go for a while. I ask for sesame chicken and the rice was extremely dry, it tasted like rice from a microwave the chicken was very spicy so couldn’t even finished. A little bit pricey for the lunch menu.

I went to lunch here for the first time today. The restaurant was nice and clean and nice people but I was not impressed with the food. Maybe I’ll go back and try a different dish, and I didn’t like the fried rice, it reminded me of uncle bens rice.

We went there a couple weeks ago and to be honest we didn’t like it. The food wasn’t hot when we got it and it took about 30 minutes to get our food. I had the combination rice which was good but the other parties food was tough and room temp. The sweet tea tastes like it was instant powder tea. Overall the place was nice and our server was nice and polite.

Edit: I gave this place another try and it wasn't near as bad as my first experience food-wise. However, the online menu is/was still not accurate thus when I ordered over the phone, the prices were about 50% more than what the online menu was which is not cool. The review-response from the owner was nice, good to know they care about their business. -----------I got charged $12.50 for Sesame chicken (not what online menu says..). It was about 4lbs of chicken though, unfortunately not good at all. The fried rice was stale... probably one of the worst food experiences I've had in awhile and I don't give bad reviews often. I'll retry one day and update my review if deserved.

Nice place and good food.

We were looking forward to participating in Takeout Tuesday and based on the reviews thought we would give this place a try. So incredibly disappointing!! Sesame Chicken consisted of mainly over cooked batter and lackluster flavor. The Mongolian Beef has the strongest odor of burnt plastic. It was far from edible due to the smell and the concern of what caused it. Thankfully the dumplings were tasty. Be forewarned if you try this place, I hope your experience is better and it won’t leave you disappointed and still hungry.

Totally recommend this place for anyone with a mouth . Great food and even better service! Love everything about this place and the food is so amazing I always have to come back ! By far my favorite restaurant!!! The owner is kind to make sure that you have a pleasant experience . Will be back , actually I’m on my way there right now AGAIN!

Fried rice and orange chicken was to die for

Extremely clean, from the white table linens, and the walls to the floor everything was clean. It's a calm soothing place to dine in. Service was really great and prices were very affordable. Food was really good, I really enjoyed the wonton soup.

I honestly haven't been to House of Joy for about two years. I enjoyed it so much this time! I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken was tender and breaded perfectly. I dont usually like fried rice, but it was sooo good.
